Explosion At Valero Refinery In Port Arthur Texas 03/23/2026

Authorities were asking to residents to shelter in place Monday evening due to reports of an explosion at a Valero refinery in the community located at 1801 South Gulfway Drive Port Arthur, TX 77640 it had taken place sending a plume of smoke into the sky.

Port Arthur Police confirmed the Valero refinery the scene of the explosion mayor Carlotter Moses told the associated press no one was injured. That shelter in place order was lifted early Tuesday. This Valero location is one of the largest in the united state's capable of processing 360,000 barrels of oil a day.
