Nasire Best walked up to the checkpoint removed the weapon from the bag a began firing at the officer's then police returned fire. After striking the suspect he was transported to the hospital where he later died. No Secret Service members were hurt during the incident. President Trump prased officers' for professional action taken he also added the gunman is dead he said they were grateful no officers were injured. Curran said him and the agency are hopeful that the bystander will make a full recovery

Nasire Best was a 21 year old he was known to the Secret Service court records showed he had a stay away order from the white house put in place on July 11 2025. A incident in June 2025 he blocked point of entry of the white house then in July 2025 he was arrested after an attempt to enter white house checkpoint.
