Eight years ago, Dr. Scott began her career as a special education teacher and started working with high school transition students. During her career, families trusted her to assist their students in providing vocational, life, and social skills training they needed to succeed in adult life once they left the educational setting. During this time in public education, she realized that there was a significant need for additional facilities for adults with disabilities. After finishing her doctorate, Dr. Scott began the process of opening up a day habilitation facility and Choice Living Community was founded in December 2019.
Their mission is to provide a day habilitation facility that continues to deliver innovative and individualized programs to advance the achievement and knowledge for adults with disabilities in the areas of vocational, life, and social skills. Their vision includes a full residential facility that will provide an opportunity for adults with disabilities to live as independently as possible.

The community focuses on helping clients become as self-sufficient as possible through several key areas including
- Vocational Training: Provides job coaching and placement to help adults secure part-time or full-time employment.
- Life Skills: Assists with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and washing clothes.
- Social Skills: Helps clients build communication and social confidence for everyday interactions and community integration.
- Individualized Care Plans (ICP): Ensures each client receives a customized program tailored to their specific needs, ranging from daily sensory regulation to advanced education and career goals
