Pedestrians
To improve pedestrian safety and ensure clear evidence is available during traffic investigations, I suggest the following measures:
- Body Cameras: Pedestrians should consider wearing a body camera. In the event of a traffic accident, this equipment saves crucial evidence, from identifying the vehicle that hit them to capturing what the driver looked like.
- Smart Crosswalk Infrastructure: Every crosswalk light should feature a button with a built-in camera and a proximity sensor. The sensor would automatically activate the walk sign when a person approaches. To protect privacy, the video camera—designed to capture individuals who cross prematurely against a red light—should strictly be viewable only by law enforcement officials.
- Emergency GPS Tracking: Carrying a portable GPS device is highly recommended. If a pedestrian is injured in an accident or goes missing, the GPS provides a direct way for law enforcement to track their location and dispatch help immediately, backed by the proof saved on their body camera.
Cyclists
To prevent bicycle hijacking and document road incidents, cyclists can utilize a comprehensive multi-camera setup:
- Rear-Facing Cameras: Installing two body cameras on the back of the bicycle captures everything happening behind you. If someone attempts to hijack the bike, the live footage can stream directly to your smartphone, allowing police to immediately identify the suspect.
- Front-Facing Camera: A front-mounted camera documents the road ahead. If the bicycle is stolen, this camera records the thief's exact escape route, including the streets and turns they take.
- Audio & Redundancy: Cyclists should also wear a personal body camera. Every camera in this setup must be equipped with a microphone to capture audio evidence during an incident, paired with a dedicated GPS tracker mounted directly on the bicycle.
Drivers
To achieve total vehicle protection and combat auto theft, drivers should implement a high-security tracking and surveillance system:
- 6-Camera Surveillance Layout: Eliminate blind spots and monitor all activity by installing six strategic cameras:
- Front Coverage: Two cameras recording the road ahead and the front window perimeter.
- Cabin Monitoring: One camera dedicated to the front row and another monitoring the middle row.
- Rear Coverage: One camera recording the back row passengers alongside the rear window.
- Side Profiles: A double-sided camera setup on both the driver and passenger sides to capture the entire exterior perimeter of the vehicle.
- 4x Redundant GPS Trackers: Vehicles should be equipped with four hidden, tightly sealed GPS devices featuring strong signal capabilities. Deploying four separate trackers ensures that even if a car thief manages to find and remove one device while stealing the vehicle, the car remains completely trackable through the remaining hidden units.
