Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 In Development Game Detail's

Bandai Namco and Dimps have officially announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, slated for release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via Steam). Before his passing, Akira Toriyama was deeply involved in the project, laying out the foundation for its new setting and creating original character designs.

The June 2026 trailer introduced several key elements, including a brand-new character named Brett, an un-aged and youthful Bulma, and Gamma 1 featuring a "1000" logo on his chest.

Setting and Narrative: A Shift Away from Time Travel

Moving away from traditional time-travel mechanics focused on fixing corrupted historic battles, Xenoverse 3 pivots to a brand-new timeline set in AGE 1000.

  • The Dual Life: Players control an amnesiac protagonist who arrives in the future from another time. By day, your character attends West City University as a student; by night, you protect peace as a member of the Great Saiya Squad.
  • Branching Campaigns: Building on the multi-ending experimentation from Xenoverse 2 DLCs, the main story features branching paths and team-up choices based on your interactions with original characters like Brett.

Overhauled Character Customization

Character creation is one of the three core developmental pillars for Xenoverse 2's successor. Built on a brand-new engine rather than recycled assets, the creation suite addresses long-standing fan requests:

  • Granular Body Sliders: Physical appearance is now completely separated from game stats. You can create plus-size or thicker builds for both male and female avatars, choose slim physiques for male Majins, and select much shorter kid- or teen-like proportions without performance penalties.
  • Advanced Hair Models: Hair is rebuilt from scratch to ensure it properly spikes and changes shape during transformations. Features include better hairline rendering, multi-toned hair coloring, and animated Saiyan tails with unique textures.
  • Aesthetics and Gear: The game adopts a colorable clothing system similar to Dragon Ball: The Breakers, alongside custom intro and victory poses.
  • Mentorship Fighting Styles: The new Soul Switch / Soul Change system lets you equip character souls that alter your basic attack animations and fighting styles to match iconic mentors like Goku, Gogeta, or Broly.

Next-Generation Combat Mechanics

True power scaling in Xenoverse 3 relies heavily on new real-time transformation and backup systems:

  • Soul Switch: When your character's potential meter reaches maximum, you can temporarily "incarnate" a legacy hero (such as Future Trunks, Vegeta, or Piccolo). This replaces your custom character's stats, fighting style, and super attacks with that iconic warrior's moveset for a limited time.
  • Soul Assist: Serving as an evolution of Xenoverse 2's Dual Ultimates, this feature lets you call upon the spirits of past Earth protectors to unleash powerful, synchronized signature techniques.
  • Inventory Management: While changing your character's base race or identity requires returning to the main menu, you can instantly swap active outfits, cosmetics, and movesets on the go via your in-game watch menu.

Open-World Exploration and Urban Combat

  • Massive Hub Design: The futuristic West City is built as a seamless open world, rumored to be up to 10 times larger than Xenoverse 2's Conton City. Players can freely fly, teleport, and drive customizable vehicles from the start.
  • Seamless Urban Arenas: Gone are the days of loading into isolated maps for every fight. Battles now take place directly within multi-connected city streets, creating an MMO-style exploration loop where you can discover gear and customization items scattered across the world.

Engine, Roster, and Progression

Because the game utilizes a brand-new engine, the launch roster will initially be smaller than its predecessor to ensure high asset quality. While series mainstays are fully playable, some legacy, Super, and GT variants may be added post-launch. Backed by a new RPG progression architecture, the game is designed to support deep, long-term scaling and progression.

Currencies

Earned Only During Gameplay
  • ZenÄ«: The classic worldwide currency of the Dragon Ball universe. You earn this through standard story quests and parallel quests. It is primarily used to purchase basic skills, standard clothing, and access basic training shops.
  • Tp Medal's: This is the strictly free, gameplay-only currency. Bandai Namco permanently disabled the ability to buy TP medals with real money. They must be entirely earned through in-game grinding like Expert Missions and Raids
Can Be Bought With Real Money.
  • STP Medals: Introduced as a successor to standard TP Medals, this premium currency is designed for microtransactions and is required to purchase exclusive auras, custom outfits, and expensive level-cap boosts.
